THE KING IS BACK
Ladies and Geetles, Faithful Readers, Patient Patrons, it is I, your favorite idiot superhero, wanderer of Earth and OTHER PLACES, King of all Jewish Baseball, elated to announce, after too-long a break— from writing, that is, not from King of Jewish Baseball…ing, a duty I have been performing unceasingly since birth, that I am back. After learning about the magical new technology known as “SUBSTACK” where readers pay their hard-earned shekels to thought-leaders and other industry-specific masters of the obvious, such as myself, I could not resist the temptation. There is, after all, so much to update you on.
We launched King of Jewish Baseball in 2012, the first time Team Israel was invited to qualify for the World Baseball Classic. I was just a lowly bullpen catcher hoping for a chance. Since then, the Kingdom of Jewish Baseball has grown — we are preparing for our third WBC, we finished 5th at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and won a silver medal at the 2021 European Championships. And I, of course, have ascended rapidly through the ranks like a rocket ship, ripping through the org chart, being promoted from bullpen catcher all the way to batting practice pitcher, the most important person in any baseball organization, along with donning the distinctly less honorific titles, CEO and manager.
